Acoustic Artistry to inspire your creativity
Bowerman Guitars are individually built to order, bench-crafted from premium tone-woods. Each commission is designed with input from the player and guidance from the maker to ensure that the resulting guitar or mandolin will inspire with stunning aesthetics, easy playability, dynamic tone and attention to detail throughout. Whether you’re looking for a custom finish, specific tonal character, or a completely personalized build, we create guitars that truly reflect your interests to enliven your music.
Instruments
We specialize in Flat-top acoustics, but derive tremendous joy from the custom commissions our clients bring to the design process. In addition to six, eight and twelve string guitars, we delight in building Weissenborn style guitars, carved top mandolins and octave mandolins.
Bowerman Octaves can be heard on recordings by John Reischman and the Jaybirds. A similar spec to John’s personal instrument is the closest thing to a "model" we build, featuring 30-year-old “Sashimi Grade” Indian Rosewood from renowned Canadian builder Michael Heiden, paired with Bruce Harvey-sourced AA Adirondack Spruce. We also build custom five-string cello C tuned instruments, using special low-tension string sets, which literally bend the laws of physics to deliver deeply resonant tone across the entire three octave range.
