Bearclaw figuration can be found occasionaly in individual trees of each of the Spruce species but is found most commonly in Sitka Spruce.
Tops are often dramatically figured what looks like “claw marks” and are usually slightly darker, stiffer and heavier than their "normal" spruce counterparts.  Besides being aesthetically stunning, Bear Claw soundboards also tend to have a bright-sounding “edgeiness” to their voice to combine with the usual Sitka projection and clarity.
Unique and rare with a higher price tag than traditional spuce, I stock only a limited number of tops which I am happy to photograph and send vial e-mail attatchment for your approval during the custom ordering proces
