The worlds tallest tree also has the longest and finest grain of any softwood. Redwood is a striking top wood whose rich colors reflect its sonic charactor as well. Redwood soundboards exhibit the best characteristics of both cedar and sitka spruce - that is to say - warm and rich yet punchy yet immediate at the same time.
Redwood topped guitars sustain beautifuly and are especially sweet when played way up the neck. Soft "feel" is another benefit of one of the most storied and complex sounding soundboard materials available. Bowerman Guitars uses Redwood salvaged from recycled timbers as well as the stumps and "buckskins" of trees which were first cut at the turn of the century.
